It wouldn’t be a day of the week ending in ‘y’ without a story about Simone Zaza in the Italian press, and Il Mattino are more than happy to oblige on Monday.
The Italian newspaper, amid a big article looking at Tottenham’s €40m offer for Amadou Diawara, explain that Napoli’s only piece of business, if possible, would be the Italy international’s arrival.
As you will be sick of hearing by now, the player needs to make five more appearances for West Ham before the clause in his loan deal is triggered (14 appearances) to make the move permanent, and until then, negotiations with Juventus would be near impossible.
This means that for any deal to happen, it would have to be directly with West Ham, forcing Bilic to play Zaza five more times before January.
To discuss this matter, the player’s father, who also happens to be his agent, is set to contact Napoli’s director of football, Cristiano Giuntoli, ‘in the coming hours’, to update him on what will be said at the ‘mini’ West Ham summit regarding his son.
Said meeting was meant to take place after Italy played Germany on Tuesday, but it appears to have been moved forward if Il Mattino are anything to go by.
Zaza recently told the Italian press he hadn’t heard anything official about clubs being interested in him, but admitted Napoli were a good club.
Some slight flirting that has got Il Mattino all excited.
