Club managers around the world will be especially worried during the current international break. Not only are players at risk of injury after a packed schedule and little rest, there’s also the Covid-19 situation.
Despite national squads shouting loudly about how secure their bubbles are, and why there should be little worry, players continue to test positive for Covid-19, usually having already trained with their teammates or at least spent time with them.
On this theme, Jurgen Klopp has received more bad news on Friday, to add to the fitness issues already facing the Liverpool manager.
The Liverpool star isn’t showing any symptoms at the moment, which is of course good news, and he was the only member of his country’s squad to return a positive test. The implications for the Reds are unclear, and it’s clearly a situation Klopp and Salah will have wanted to avoid.
Multiple national teams have had players with positive tests over the past few days, including Sweden, Croatia, Republic of Ireland, Norway and France.
