There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Jack Wilshere ever since the midfielder and West Ham parted ways, mostly fuelled by the player himself.

Spending all of his career in England following his spells with Arsenal and the Hammers, the 28-year-old made it clear he would be open to most leagues.

That means the likes of Italy and Germany could open their doors to a player who still has a lot to offer if he can keep himself off the physio’s table and on the pitch.

However, it appears the former West Ham man isn’t ready to drop too far down the tables in order to get himself some minutes, seemingly prioritising a top-tier league.

We say this because a report has emerged from Italy, primarily from Serie B News, claiming Chievo tried their luck.

They explain the club, who have found themselves in good form by collecting 13 points from their past six games, decided to ‘attempt the coup’ by approaching Wilshere with an offer.

It’s said a contract was handed to the player for him to move to Verona, but the midfielder ‘would have said no’.

That’s because should he decide to move to Italy, it would only be for a Serie A side, ‘and therefore continues to refuse offers from the cadet league’.

As they say when ending their article, ‘we’ll see if the situation will change in January or not’, as it will all depend on the other options available to the ex-West Ham star since his departure from London Stadium.
