Manchester United face PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, with the match the Red Devils’ first on their return to Europe’s elite competition.
The French club are favourites, having got to the final last season only to lose to Bayern Munich, and they’ll be expected to take three points from the home match.
Monday afternoon has seen PSG speak to the media ahead of the tie, and Ander Herrera was sat alongside manager Thomas Tuchel.
The Spanish midfielder, who left Old Trafford for Paris as a free-agent in the summer 2019 window, was asked about Paul Pogba and is clearly a big fan of the Frenchman.
L’Equipe quote Herrera as saying: “I think he has it all. There are no midfielders like him. He has all the qualities possible, he can play one on one, attack and box to box. Now he plays more deep since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes. If Manchester has the capacity to aim for titles, Pogba will be well placed in the Ballon d’Or.”
Manchester United haven’t been in the fight for the biggest titles in recent years, and when asked about his former club’s current level and situation, Herrera said: “It’s not fair to compare Manchester today with Ferguson’s side. There is more competition in England. Take the example of Tottenham which has come a long way in recent years. It’s new football with a new era. What Ferguson has done is just second to none.”
Herrera has a good chance of starting on Tuesday given the midfield absences PSG currently have. With Marco Verrattti and Leandro Paredes set to miss the Champions League match, it gives the Spaniard a far greater chance of figuring.
