Turkish website Fotospor report Besiktas are interested in signing Aston Villa forward Mbwana Samatta.
The Tanzania striker only joined the Premier League club in January from Genk, but Fotospor claim Dean Smith is not counting on him next season, especially now Ollie Watkins has been signed from Brentford.
Besiktas are in the market for an attacker after selling their captain Burak Yilmaz to Ligue 1 side Lille earlier in the window, and Fotospor claim Samatta could be his replacement.
Besiktas board member Emre Kocadag is reportedly leading the operation to sign the player, and the Black Eagles will make a move for the 27 year old when the timing is right.
Samatta has also been linked with a move to fellow Super Lig side Fenerbahce and it was reported at the time the Yellow Canaries could make a loan offer for him.
He made 14 appearances for Aston Villa in the Premier League last season, scoring just one goal. His contract at Villa Park will expire at the end of June 2024.
