Arriving from Tottenham for a club record £13m, Nacer Chadli is having the time of his life at West Bromwich Albion, and it’s showing on the pitch.

The 27-year-old opened his doors to Sport/Foot Magazine in Belgium for a very long interview covering all aspects from his life, including his transfer from Spurs to the Midlands.

Slowly being pushed out by Mauricio Pochettino, the forward went looking for regular game time elsewhere, choosing Tony Pulis’ side ahead of the likes of Swansea or even Borussia Dortmund.

He explained why: “My priority is to play every week, to find consistency and to have a manager who believes in me. I immediately had a good feeling (about West Brom). I wanted to stay in the Premier League. It’s the most watched league in the world.

“It really is the best playing here: the intensity, the overall quality, the fact anyone can beat anyone; we saw it with Leicester last year. It really is an incredible league”.

Comparing the Premier League to the NBA because the ‘quality isn’t always there, but the show is’, Chadli explained his good form since the start of the season (four goals and two assists in seven league games) is down to being on the pitch week in week out.

Running a lot more under Tony Pulis than he ever did at Tottenham, the Belgium international also touched upon the record transfer fee paid by the club for his services.

He said: “Whether I’m transferred for €4m or €20m, it doesn’t change anything for me, but I have to admit I felt people were expecting a lot from me because I came from Tottenham, where I spent three seasons and scored quite a few goals (25 in 119 appearances).”

To round up the interview, Chadli was asked who he was more annoyed with: Mauricio Pochettino or Marc Wilmots (who left him out of the Belgium Euros squad without so much as a text or a phone call)?

His answer? “Pass”.
