Ecuadorian youngster Andy Casquete had his transfer to Manchester City spoiled, according to his agent.
The 18-year-old was a subject of a big controversy in his country, as the Ecuadorian FA made an investigation in order to find out his real age.
The player got suspended during the time of the investigation, which stopped him from playing for both club and country.
All the local newspapers have obviously followed the investigation, and that’s one of the reasons why the player’s agent was so angry about.
“His move to Manchester City of England was cut short, which could have secured his career”, Jorge Guerrero told Radio Redonda de Quito (via Afición Central).
“It’s a very complicated thing, especially considering he’s a boy, a minor, it’s a slap on the wrist for a sector of journalism that tries to be righteous”.
Casquete is considered to be a great talent, having already made appearances for the national team’s youth levels.
After the youngster was found innocent, he will now be allowed to play again. He has now signed a five-year deal with Independiente del Valle, who were the runner ups of this year’s Copa Libertadores.
