Vincenzo Morabito likes to talk about Manolo Gabbiadini.
Usually used by the Italian media to try and get insight in certain deals, the so-called ‘super agent’, who has apparently worked on various big transfers throughout his career, had something to say about Manolo Gabbiadini’s and Simone Zaza’s situations at Napoli and West Ham respectively.
The former of the two is currently having a torrid time at the Serie A club, struggling to find the back of the net regularly and getting sent off after 30-odd minutes at the weekend in a 2-1 win over Crotone.
As for Simone Zaza, well, his loan move to West Ham from Juventus is yet to produce a goal after seven appearances for the Hammers.
Talk of Zaza joining Napoli has been fairly prominent since Arkadiusz Milik’s injury, and Morabito was asked by Radio CRC, relayed by SpazioNapoli, if he thought a swap deal could happen between the two clubs, with Gabbiadini ending up at West Ham.
He said: “Gabbiadini sold in January? The West Ham swap hypothesis between Gabbiadini and Zaza is suggestive. Surprisingly, the English club have had a poor start, down to serious technical responsibilities, and Zaza needs time to adapt.
“He’s lacking the goal that will allow to us see what happens. That said, I don’t know if West Ham want to be on another Italian, and whether Napoli are willing to give away Gabbiadini and take Zaza”.
So much for the insight, Vincenzo…
