Premier League loanees aren’t having any easy treatment in Portugal this season. After Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic was booed by the Sporting fans, it’s now time for Arsenal’s Joel Campbell to be criticised.
The forward scored the equalizer during the 1-1 draw against Tondela, and despite making the front page of newspaper as a hero of the match, the fans weren’t very happy with him after the goal.
According to O Jogo, the first reason was because he took his shirt off, and obviously got booked for it.
The second is because he went to celebrate instead of catching the ball and taking it back to midfield, when the fans were hoping for a comeback.
Campbell scored in the fifth minute of injury time, so it was quite unlikely they would have time to find another goal anyway.
Despite not getting much game time, the player’s record in the Portuguese league is quite good. He has two goals in 171 minutes played, divided in four appearances. However, he’s still to score in the Cup or in the Champions League.
