Over the past week or so, we’ve covered in some detail Rangers’ pursuit of Haris Belkebla.
Steven Gerrard’s side have reportedly become interested in the Stade Brestois 29 midfielder to bolster their squad for next season, but the Ligue 1 side are reluctant to sell him.
Celtic were also said to have joined in on the fun, but it’s RC Lens, who were recently promoted from Ligue 2, who are the ones to look out for.
We say this because they’ve been named in every report surrounding the Algeria international, and they have now made their first move.
According to Le10 Sport, Lens have presented Brest with a first offer for the Rangers target, although it has been refused by Brest.
It’s said Belkebla is ‘tempted to join’ the northern club’s project, but his club are ‘determined’ to keep their player for next season.
Lens have yet to return with a new bid, but it’s an indication they are taking this seriously, meaning that if Steven Gerrard does really want the midfielder at Ibrox next year, he may need to ask those in charge of transfers at Rangers to act quickly.
