The Italian media continues to sound very confident that Pedro Rodriguez will be signing for AS Roma following his departure from Chelsea this summer.

The latest updates are brought today by Corriere Dello Sport, who claim that Roma manager Paulo Fonseca has spoken to the player.

It’s said they’ve talked ‘in the past few hours’, with the coach explaining to Pedro the job he’d have in his 4-2-3-1 system.

The 32-year-old is presented as being excited about the possibility, and convinced his future can be in the Italian capital. Corriere Dello Sport say he’s a big admirer of Serie A, and wouldn’t like to finish his career in alternative leagues.

Since Pedro’s contract with Chelsea expires this summer, he’s leaving the Blues for free. Roma are convincing him with a two-year contract, with wages of €3m per season, and an option of an extension for a further year.

Corriere also says that Roma director Gianluca Petrachi has already closed this deal, even though it’s still to be approved by president James Pallotta.
