This summer could be the biggest ever for RB Leipzig in terms of transfer income, report Kicker.
Despite difficulties in football given the Covid-19 financial crisis, Leipzig could still bring in more than €100m for the first time in their history. And Kicker explain Leeds United would be a big factor in that.
Jean-Kevin Augustin is described as one of the ‘biggest incorrect purchases’ in recent years for the Bundesliga club. He was sent on loan to Leeds United in the January window, yet despite him not really having an impact yet, he could bring in an ‘unexpected bonus’.
That’s because, at least as far as Kicker have it, the Championship club will have to pay Leipzig another €21m to make the move permanent, but only if they’re promoted. Given Marcelo Bielsa’s club are currently top, they look well placed for the Premier League, and therefore to sign Augustin.
Kicker state Leeds already agreed to paying €4m as a loan fee, so could end up paying €25m in total, something RB Leipzig would be thrilled with.
