Queens Park Rangers defender Toni Leistner is ‘not planning’ to return to the club once his loan deal at Köln expires.
The German footballer has been on loan with Köln since January, having left Loftus Road over a lack of playing time.
His deal at the club expires in the summer, but according to Fussball News, he has no intention of returning to England once it does.
He is keen to remain in his homeland and is already in talks with the Cologne club over a possible move.
However, any potential transfer is dependant on the future of defender Jorge Mere, with his future at the club in doubt.
He has a deal until 2023 but has found himself playing a substitute role under coach Markus Gisdol so, should he leave, that would open up space for Leistner to move from QPR.
Should that route be closed to him, a stay a Köln is also ‘conceivable’ at this point as he has managed to ‘convince’ at the club.
Indeed, the QPR defender has held talks with those in charge about a permanent switch.
“The last conversation I had was with Horst Heldt,” he is reported as saying.
“We have adjourned, there are still many things to be clarified. Of course, I would like to stay with FC Köln.”
