For the past couple of months, we’ve been covering the campaign the Mexican media has been pushing for Raul Jimenez to leave Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Several local personalities have been saying the striker deserves to move to ‘a bigger club’, seeing the next transfer window as a great chance for him.
But we bring something completely different today, with former Mexican striker Luis Garcia saying the opposite of that.
ESPN Mexico had a debate on Tuesday night asking their pundits why Mexican footballers haven’t succeeded at top European sides lately.
“It took Raul Jiménez six years to make the small jump, to consolidate himself at, with all due respect to Wolverhampton, a mid-table club.
“He is the highest figure at this club, he seems to belong there. I don’t see him, I don’t think he can play for Real Madrid, or Barcelona, or Bayern Munich…”
Garcia has also claimed that the Wolves star ‘can’t sit at the same table’ as the likes of Sergio Aguero, Luis Suarez, Karim Benzema, Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski.
Needless to say, not all pundits have agreed with him, as it’s still a consensus in Mexico that Jimenez should soon be playing for a bigger club.
