Leeds United took Mateusz Bogusz from Polish side Ruch Chorzów in January 2019 and the attacking midfielder was offered a contract until 2021.
The 18-year-old didn’t feature for the Whites’ first team in the first six months and had to wait until August 2019 to make his debut for the Championship side.
Bogusz’s appearance in the EFL Cup defeat to Stoke City at the start of this season has been his only experience with Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
An Ekstraklasa club wanted to take the attacking midfielder on loan last summer and he was open to joining them on a temporary deal. The move never materialised because of the Elland Road club.
“I considered it, but the club didn’t want to agree,” he was quoted as saying by Polish outlet Meczyki.
“But later I also noticed that the work I do here will bring great results someday. I just don’t know when.”
“I talked a lot about it with [Mateusz] Klich, with others and they said that a coach [like Bielsa], such preparation, I may not have in my entire career. If it’s hard now, then it can only be easier.”
The teenager trains under Bielsa with the first team, yet his efforts have not resulted in an appearance in the league. Bogusz is yet to make his debut in the Championship and this frustrates him.
“I’m angry that I don’t get a chance. But when I look at development and how it is working here, I can tell you honestly – I feel I’ve developed incredibly for example in terms of endurance,” the player stressed.
“I could jump in at any time, play 90 minutes, take on as much effort as the first team player and there would be no problem.”
