Spanish outlet Marca have been using the #YoMeQuedoEnCasa (#IStayAtHome) campaign to interview some players during the quarantine and ask them how things have been going.
On Wednesday, the newspaper features a story with West Ham United defender Pablo Fornals, who’s stayed on his on in London during the Coronavirus pandemic.
“I’m cooking a lot. I’m quite adept at it,” Fornals told Marca. “I do everything, clean, cook, scrub, sweep… Everything that my partner and I used to share before, now it’s my turn to do it just to keep the house in good condition.”
Asked if he has a pet, Fornal says he used to be with his girlfriend and his dog, but they’ve had some back luck and had to be separated doing the quarantine.
“We have a pet, but before all this happened, both my dog Kira and my girlfriend had to go to Spain and then they couldn’t return. It would be great to have her here.”
Now alone at home, he says he’s been switching between Netflix, Amazon and HBO, especially because he’s not a big fan of video games.“I don’t play Playstation, nor do I have it in England. It’s in Spain and I’m not a good player, really. It doesn’t excite me either. I do use my mobile enough to stay in touch with family and not get bored.”
To a strange question about how he’s been doing regarding toilet roll, Fornals gave the impression he’s always well stocked.
“I haven’t bought, I had it saved from before all this happened. I still have plenty. I don’t plan to go back for it.”
Finally regarding the end of the leagues, Fornals says he’s completely in favour of finishing all the competitions left, even if some alternative formulas are needed.
“I think it will end yes or yes in any country. If it isn’t done, I think that the fairest thing would be to have something among the first clubs. In, Spain Real Madrid and Barcelona dispute the title, and then, those who are relegated, a ‘playout’. Anything that is done will leave people unhappy and it will be very difficult to please everyone.”
