Over the past few weeks, there have been some odd rumours in England that Lazio are interested in Adam Lallana, fighting Leicester City for his services.

The Liverpool midfielder is out of contract come June, which gives him freedom to talk to clubs about joining them next season, allowing speculation to fly around freely.

Corriere dello Sport look at the situation from an Italian perspective, and feel that while there could be some interest, Lallana to Lazio makes little sense.

The presence of former Liverpool players like Lucas Leiva and Luis Alberto ‘is an obstacle’ for the player, despite the fact the Italian club’s director of football, Igli Tare, has been in contact with Jonathan Barnett, Lallana’s agent, over the past couple of years.

While they repeat that the English media have been talking about a duel between Lazio and Leicester City for the midfielder, they state the Foxes are ‘ahead of everyone’ and ‘could close the deal shortly’.

It would make sense for him to want to be reunited with Brendan Rodgers, who knows him well, instead of trying something completely new in Italy where it appears his time on the pitch could be limited.
