The Spanish press are already gearing up for Liverpool’s trip to Spain on February 18th.
Tuesday saw some reports which are concerning for Atletico Madrid supporters, pointing out the possibility that all of Alvaro Morata, Joao Felix and Diego Costa could be missing for the first leg of the Champions League tie.
Wednesday’s edition of Marca takes a double page look at the upcoming match, and it’s all weighted in favour of Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s team are described as ‘The Machine of Europe’, a machine the German manager has perfected and ‘finished greasing’.
In the Premier League the Reds ‘pursue all the records’ and are so much better than the rest that they’re ‘without opposition’.
The ‘rock of Klopp’ and the ‘fort of Anfield’ is a combination which has worked perfectly, helped of course by a few star players.
From an Atletico Madrid perspective, Liverpool are named ‘the worst rival at the worst moment’.
Diego Simeone pushes his players hugely in the physical sense, and it’s been reported in Spain recently that perhaps preseason was just too difficult this time, and that’s why there’s been so many injuries for the Rojiblancos.
Given so many of the squad are out injured or carrying injuries, Simeone may normally rest players ahead of Liverpool. However, given their position in the league (Atletico are currently sixth) he can’t do that, which may lead to further fitness problems.
As far as Marca have it, Atletico Madrid should probably be scared.
