Victor Wanyama won’t be leaving Tottenham for Amiens before the transfer window closes, report L’Equipe on Friday night.
Earlier claims had the midfielder on the verge of a move to the Ligue 1 side, but the French newspaper claims Spurs have changed the terms at the end of negotiations.
That change has led to the move collapsing after terms had earlier been agreed.
Those terms were with both the player and the Premier League club, and L’Equipe are very clear that the failure of this transfer is being put on Tottenham.
Wanyama had previously been linked with a move to the Turkish Super Lig.
There are further claims in France that Tottenham could now terminate the player’s contract, allowing him to join any club for free.
If they’d wanted more out of Amiens than was on offer, that wouldn’t make sense, unless all related to wages.
Spurs have been busy trying to bring in a striker at the end of the window, and had been linked strongly with Odion Ighalo.
It now appears the former Watford striker is set to sign for Manchester United instead, moving from Shanghai Shenhua initially on a loan basis.
