Last night was great for Everton Cebolinha, with the Grêmio forward scoring twice in their comeback against São José.
More than that, he’s become the top scorer of their stadium, with 42 goals. He’s also surpassed Ronaldinho in the list of the club’s top scorers, now with 69 goals.
However, the 23-year-old also confirmed last night he’s not moving to Premier League side Everton in the current transfer window.
“I stay. The plan is to stay, I aim for big things. I was able to enter the club’s history. I’m happy. I hope to stick my name in Grêmio every day more”, said Everton Cebolinha (via Globo Esporte).
UOL brings a little information about it. It’s first been reported that Everton said they could offer €30m for the player. Now the website says this amount was actually €25m with other €5m in bonuses.
Grêmio were demanding €40m for 50% of the player last year, so it sounds like the bid wouldn’t be enough, even though the club reportedly have a deal to get 65% of the transfer now.
Perhaps that’s why, as reported by UOL, Everton’s bid was never made. They say there’s still a chance he can move in the summer, but there’s nothing about a new attempt from the Toffees anytime soon.
