Rangers have failed in their attempt to sign Portuguese midfielder Miguel Luís, according to reports on Friday.
As reported by O Jogo, the Scottish side tried to sign the player from Sporting on a loan deal, but the offer was turned down by the Lions.
It’s said Rangers ‘couldn’t convince’ the Lisbon club to go on with the operation, even though he’s not getting all that much playing time at the club, and could still leave on deadline day.
It’s said Miguel Luís has other possibilities for this future, including a loan deal at Vitória de Guimarães. Sporting president Frederico Varandas is expected to take a final decision today.
There are no details about Rangers’ offer. Considering Sporting don’t seem like making big efforts to keep the player, the Ibrox side were probably trying to get him on a loan deal with no clause to keep him permanently.
Let’s see if more information is revealed in the coming days, but Steven Gerrard will now have to look elsewhere if he wants a new midfielder.
