Even though the Brazilian press has been reporting Flamengo’s negotiations with Arsenal for Pablo Mari for the past couple of days, there were never big details about the amounts involved.
The Gunners announced the signing earlier today saying the player would arrive on a loan deal, making an even bigger mystery about the transfer.
But now UOL comes up with a very detailed story about the move, telling all the money involved in the defender’s signing.
They say Pablo Mari was initially signing for the Gunners on a €10m permanent move, but as informed by agent André Cury, the methods have been changed during the negotiations.
It’s said Arsenal are now paying €4m for the loan deal until the end of the season. At the end of the spell, they will have the preference to buy the player for a fee of €4m. The Gunners have no obligation to use it.
It’s also said there’s a performance bonus of €8m, even though the details of such clause haven’t been revealed.
This, if Mari was purchased, could take the deal to €16m overall.
