On Monday we covered claims from German newspaper Bild about Premier League interest for Emre Can.
Borussia Dortmund were thought to be closing in on a deal for the Juventus player, but competition was presented from England.
All of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal were said to be ‘playing poker’ for the player, trying to get a deal done before the transfer window closes on Friday evening.
At the time we explained this all felt like Bild potentially bringing in a little drama, so if and when Dortmund do sign Can, they can then claim to have beaten several top Premier League clubs to him.
It wouldn’t be the first time.
Today Bild report Dortmund have reached an agreement on terms with the former Liverpool player. He’ll earn €10m a year, after tax, on a four year deal.
Presumably that’s after an initial loan until the end of the season, because Bild say that’s what BVB want.
However, Juventus would prefer a permanent sale right now.
Can would like a pay-off from the Turin club, and to afford the signing, Dortmund first need to sell Paco Alcacer, who only wants a return to Spain.
That’s a lot to get sorted out before the weekend.
Bild state Tottenham and Arsenal ‘are two top clubs’ who remain in the picture, but it’s claimed Can has his mind set on Dortmund.
