Marcos Rojo to Estudiantes is a real thing, it’s got past the rumour stage, with the Argentine club speaking publicly about wanting the Manchester United player.
La Nacion report the ‘love is reciprocated’, with the defender also wanting to return to his former club.
The problem is that Manchester United would prefer to send him on loan to a club in Europe, because they believe his value could rise with regular football.
It’s once again stated that ‘everything is agreed’ between Rojo and Estudiantes, so if the Premier League club allow it, there’s not much in the way of a move.
Juan Sebastián Verón, the club’s president is quoted as saying: “Hopefully Manchester can see that there is no economic issue that we can match, but that it happens in other ways and we can entice him. We are working so that he can come.”
Mariano Andújar, the club’s goalkeeper, has also been quoted, and is clearly keen for his compatriot to join: “Marcos is Estudiantes, and hopefully we can have him for six months.”
Agustín Alayes, the club’s secretary, said there’s only a small chance of them getting their way, and he doesn’t want to raise expectations, but it’s clearly something being worked on.
