Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito have made a bid to sign Brighton youngster Billy Arce on loan and are awaiting a response from the Seagulls.
That’s according to El Comercio, who say the Ecuadorian team are keen to add Arce to their squad ahead of the new season.
They report that Liga Deportiva made a bid for the forward ‘a few days ago’ and have held negotiations over the details that would be in the contract between the two clubs.
The player’s agent, Juan Pablo Rivadeneira, told the newspaper they are ‘defining the last details of the loan between Liga and Brighton’ with it believed they are hoping to get a deal completed on Monday.
The Ecuadorian club want the Brighton forward in before the start of the 2020 season, with coach Pablo Repetto having requested his signing after working with him at Independiente del Valle.
They are now awaiting a response from Brighton, but have drawn up a contract for the player ahead of the move.
That will include the ‘possibility to terminate the contract immediately if there is a disciplinary problem’ according to club director Esteban Paz.
The club want to protect themselves in case the player’s discipline comes into question once again, it having been a problem during his loan spells elsewhere.
They have even planned to put psychologists and coaches at the player’s disposal to ensure there is no repeat of his past mistakes.
Manager Repetto reportedly spoke with the Brighton man a few days ago and is confident in his ‘football conditions’, with Liga now looking to tie up a deal before they sell Anderson Julio to San Luis de Mexico.
