December 1st brought a story that everyone in the world really needed.
Everton were, according to the claims, in for Everton, the Gremio player.
It was claimed the Premier League club were set to formalise a €35m offer for the player.
Of course, nothing happened, and the then manager Marco Silva was soon out, to be replaced by Carlo Ancelotti.
When he was manager at the Serie A club, Napoli were linked with signing Everton, so perhaps this one was always coming.
Brazil’s Gazeta Esportiva report Everton are preparing a €30m offer for the player, and that Ancelotti has spoken personally with him.
There’s no indication what will happen with that offer.
The Brazil international is sometimes known as Everton Cebolinha.
The Cebolinha part of Everton’s nickname has often been translated as ‘The Little Onion’, but there’s more to it than that.
Cebolinha is a character of a Brazilian comic book series called Monica’s Gang. The English version translated the name to Jimmy Five. Everton has a supposed resemblance.
An attacker playing mainly on the left, Everton has a ratio of 0.43 goals a game in Brazil’s Serie A for the past season.
