Crystal Palace are one of a number of clubs interested in signing Nabil Bentaleb this month, reports France’s Foot Mercato.
The midfielder left Tottenham in 2017 for a move to Schalke, initially on a loan basis. So good were some of his early performances that Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus recommend him as a signing for the German champions.
Tottenham’s decision to part ways with the player was subsequently questioned.
Things didn’t stay that way and Bentaleb got caught up a lot of internal strife at the club, never really coming back completely from that. Now somewhat ostracised, he’s been tasked with finding a new club.
The 25 year old would like a return to the Premier League, which sounds good for Roy Hodgson’s side, or a move to France. Two Ligue 1 clubs are keen, although their names aren’t shared, and AC Milan are also in the picture.
Schalke are willing to let the player leave on a loan basis with a buying option.
