Barcelona technical secretary Eric Abidal met Nélson Semedo’s agent Jorge Mendes in Dubai recently to discuss the defender’s future at the Camp Nou.
According to Sport, the La Liga winners, the right-back and his representative are all tempted over a transfer.
Mendes also manages Leicester City’s Ricardo Pereira and it’s claimed that during the summit in Dubai, the super-agent offered the Foxes defender as a potential replacement to Semedo.
The 26-year-old’s representative would have put his client’s name on the Spanish champions’ table for a transfer.
Pereira has been a key member in Leicester’s defence, starting 20 matches in the league this season and is offering a ‘high level of performances’.
The report adds Brendan Rodgers’ fullback is valued at €40m, but Barcelona doesn’t plan to spend money on replacing Semedo.
Barca’s idea is to raise around €50m by selling Semedo and use the funds to to balance the books.
Their idea is to bet on a young defender and even if they decide against bringing in a new right-back, the Spanish champions have that position covered by Sergi Roberto and Moussa Wagué.
€40m sounds too low for Leicester, and with Barca against spending even that, this one looks unlikely.
