According to a claim in the Turkish media, Fenerbahce are interested in signing Rangers defender Borna Barisic.
Barisic has been Steven Gerrard’s’ first choice left back this season and at the weekend he was instrumental in the victory over Celtic, providing assists to Ryan Kent and Nikola Katic.
The main priority for the Yellow Canaries in this transfer window is to sign a left-back. Fener manager Ersun Yanal has spent the whole season playing right-winger Nabil Dirar in that position.
Milan’s Ricardo Rodriguez and Roma’s Aleksandar Kolarov are both long term targets, but according to Yeni Asir the Rangers player is also on the Super Lig club’s agenda.
It’s reported Fenerbahce manager Ersun Yanal has given the green light to the club’s board to pursue the player, and Yeni Asir claim that the contact with the player will be made in the coming days.
However, reports emerged from the Italian press this week saying both AS Roma and AC Milan are interested in signing the 27 year old, so Fenerbahce need to beat these two in order to get the Ibrox man.
Since joining from Croatian side NK Osijek in 2018, Barisic has established himself as a key player under Gerrard. He’s made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish giants so far this campaign, and is under contract at Ibrox until June 2022.
