After returning to Manchester City from PSV Eindhoven, AngeliƱo has been restricted to only three starts in all competitions this season.
PSV replaced the left-back by signing Toni Lato (on loan from Valencia) and Olivier Boscagli, but neither of them have convinced so far which is why Mark van Bommel had to field midfielder Michal SadĆlek on the left side of defence.
SadĆlekās mistakes have cost the Dutch club this season andĀ De Telegraaf claims PSV are hoping to bring AngeliƱo back to the club. Those at PSV can āblindly assumeāĀ a returnĀ of the City defender can boost their back four.
PSVĀ believe signing him on a loan deal remains a āmore logical optionā than a permanent transfer.
Itās claimed that PSV will face competition from Ajax for the Spaniard and a move to the Johan Cruijff ArenA would be a better option, both financially and sporting wise for the player.
AngeliƱo will play in European competition (either Europa League or Champions League knockout stages) if he joins Ajax, but that wonāt be the case if he moves toĀ PSV in January.
Ajax are consideringĀ making an offer for the City player as they view him as a long-term successor for NicolĆ”s Tagliafico. Their idea is to sell the Argentine for ā¬40m next summer and invest half of the money in signing AngeliƱo.
‘Much will depend onĀ AngeliƱo himself’ for any potential transfer, claims the Dutch newspaper.
Itās still not clear whether or not City are willing to cooperate for AngeliƱoās transfer (even a loan deal) in January.
If the Etihad club decide to retain their player until the end of the season, then PSV will have to find another solution to fix the left-back problem.
