West Ham United have seen a bid for Inter Milan defender Valentin Lazaro rebuffed by the Serie A side.
The Hammers have one of the worst defences in the Premier League this season, conceding 23 goals in their 13 games so far.
Improving that will be crucial if Manuel Pellegrini is to stay in a job, never mind if the Hammers are to avoid a relegation battle.
Adding players in January to improve their options may be the answer, and it seems one man they were keen on bringing to the London Stadium was Lazaro.
Their efforts were rebuffed entirely, though with the Italian side ‘immediately’ rejecting any notion of a move.
Inter Milan have no interest in selling him at this point after spending €24m to sign him ahead of the likes of Bayern, PSG and Arsenal in the summer and made this clear to West Ham.
Manager Antonio Conte has made it clear to Lazaro that he is in his plans as well, further ending the slim hopes West Ham may have had of signing him in the first place.
