It seems that Manchester United’s interest in Nikola Milenkovic went beyond José Mourinho.
At least, that’s what La Republicca would have you believe on Friday, claiming the Old Trafford side are still interested in the Serbian.
The information comes as part of an article highlighting how important the 22-year-old is to Fiorentina and Vincenzo Montella these days, whether it be at the back or up front, as he’s already scored three goals in 12 games for them.
With that in mind, it’s stated Milenkovic’s valuation is ‘over €40m’, which remains an affordable price for a club like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s, who are still tweaking their backline regularly due to injuries and underperformance by some protagonists.
La Republicca point out both Manchester United and Atlético Madrid have ‘already moved’ for him, and are ‘following him’, but it’s made clear Fiorentina have little interest in letting their star defender go anytime soon.
Of course, that could all change if a big offer were to land on their desk, but there’s no indication, at least not yet, that is going to happen anytime soon.
For now, the ‘doors are closed and barred’, but that’s rarely stopped Ed Woodward and his big battering ram of a chequebook in the past.
Just ask Leicester City and Crystal Palace.
