Manchester United and Arsenal were among a bunch of clubs who sent officials to watch Anderlecht on Friday evening.
The Belgian club had a horrid start to the season and currently find themselves in tenth place. Vincent Kompany’s arrival from Manchester City hasn’t had the desired impact yet and there’s been confusion over just what his role is supposed to be.
Friday was a brighter spot for Anderlecht as they beat Zulte Waregem, seventh in the league, 2-1.
HLN reports there were lots of scouts from various European clubs at the match, with officials travelling from the likes of Wolves, Rangers, Ajax, Atalanta, Feyenoord, Genoa, Inter Milan, Marseille, Real Sociedad and Sevilla.
Those officials will have travelled ‘especially’ for two Anderlecht talents, according to the claims: Yari Verschaeren and Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The former is a 19 year old attacking midfielder and the latter is a 20 year old midfielder of the more defensive variety. Both played the match, so those officials travelling will have been able to take notes.
Anderlecht are said to be set against selling either, even in the face of potential big offers, yet Manchester United and Arsenal, should they be super keen, may be able to tempt them with a buy and loan back plan.
