West Ham United are the favourites to sign Real Madrid forward Lucas Vázquez in January but face competition for his signature from Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United.
Vázquez finds himself far down the pecking order at the Bernabeu at this moment in time, with this season seeing him fall to seventh in the pecking order of forwards.
A move away is now likely, and according to El Desmarque, Madrid president Florentino Pérez is looking to move him on in the January transfer market.
They say that the forward will leave for the Premier League, with West Ham, Wolves and Newcastle all keen.
That decision that has not been well received in the locker room as they think Vázquez is essential to the team, but the player has ‘accepted his departure’ and is looking for a team that gives him ‘good options’ for his future.
West Ham may be one such team and are the favourites to ‘win’ the Galician forward, according to the claims, but Newcastle and Wolves are also ‘very interested’ in signing him.
Whether Vázquez would be interested in any of those clubs isn’t mentioned, there isn’t any talk of a transfer fee either.
It seems unlikely that Vázquez would be open to any of the mentioned three given it’d be a significant step-down, and he reportedly had the likes of Arsenal interested in him in the summer.
If his situation is as dire as it seems at Madrid, though, perhaps he will be more willing to make the step-down and taking whatever is on offer.
