Sometimes, regardless of the efforts of everyone involved, a transfer is just not meant to happen. That was certainly the case for Javier Hernández and Valencia.
The striker joined Sevilla this summer, with West Ham allowing the goalscorer to depart after the capture of Sébastien Haller.
It seems, though, he could have made his return to Spain much sooner had West Ham not blocked Valencia’s efforts to sign him.
ABC report that the La Liga side had an agreement with the Mexican in the January transfer window, but West Ham ‘shut it down’ and would ‘not facilitate his departure.’
They then returned to try and secure a permanent deal but, West Ham rejected that proposal as well.
Hernández’s agent, Eduardo Hernández, even met with Anil Murthy, Mateo Alemany and Pablo Longoria at the club’s offices but West Ham maintained a ‘firm stance’ made it impossible to get a deal done.
Instead, Hernández is now at Sevilla and will be visiting the Mestalla with them tomorrow, hoping to provide Valencia with a view of what they could have had.
