With many predicting a busy January transfer window for Tottenham, it’s no surprise that their scouts are currently hard at work identifying players.

That’s why it’s not shocking to learn that they had scouts to watch Benfica’s 2-1 win over Lyon in the Champions League last night.

That’s according to A Bola, who say Tottenham were one of several Premier League clubs attending the game.

The newspaper doesn’t mention who they might have been looking at, but there were two players on show that would fit Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Houssem Aouar would undoubtedly add something to Spurs’ midfield and could be a viable replacement for Christian Eriksen with the Danish midfielder expected to leave the club in the near future.

He put in a steady performance receiving a three out of five from Record and a six out of ten from O Jogo.

From Benfica, it would make sense for Tottenham to be looking at left-back Álex Grimaldo. He’s been impressing this season and would be a marked upgrade on Danny Rose in the position.

The Spaniard received a three out of five from Record but scored highly with O Jogo, earning a seven out of ten, making him the best player in the game according to the newspaper.
