Despite late interest from Espanyol in Alfredo Morelos, the Rangers striker is still at Ibrox, and it doesn’t seem like he will be moving before the end of the transfer window.
That, however, is not stopping Steven Gerrard’s side from being interested in another striker, as Amiens’ Moussa Konaté has been linked in the past, and still is.
According to Foot Mercato, the forward is likely to be the subject of a tug of war before midnight in France between Rangers and their arch rivals Celtic.
Whether another striker is needed at Parkhead is debatable, with Leigh Griffiths now back, joining both Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Odsonne Edouard in battling for a starting spot, but the French website seem to think the interest is there.
It’s explained Konaté has been in ‘contact’ with Rangers for several days without anything serious happening yet.
However, Celtic have now entered the fray, and a ‘merciless battle’ is expected to take place in the next few hours to acquire his services.
It all sounds very dramatic, and there’s still some time left for more twists and turns.
Who will come out victorious?
