It’s Euro 2016 and that means players are locked up in hotels around France, counting the days between matches and having plenty of time to speak to the media.
It can lead to some rather ‘interesting’ interviews as Switzerland’s Breel Embolo found out at the weekend, when a Swiss newspaper asked him his opinion on euphanasia (assisted dying), and his best and worst types of fruit and vegetable.
Over in France, L’Equipe have got more of a structure to their non-football questioning and Arsenal star Laurent Koscielny was asked to name his likes and dislikes.
Koscielny cited things including spending time with his children, Arsenal chants, food cooked by his family, and the Emirates stadium among his likes.
The French defender’s dislikes included offal, people who complain… and Stoke City’s ‘windy’ stadium.
Koscielny explained that the ground is ‘too windy’ for his liking, adding to the ‘Cold, wet and windy, midweek night game’ aura at the Bet365.
