On Thursday, Sergio Busquets will sign a new contract with Barcelona.
That hasn’t stopped clubs from trying to sign the player, and Mundo Deportivo say Chelsea and PSG were especially interested and ready to spend €100m on a player who has a unique profile, and, according to the newspaper, one who is unmatched by any other footballer in a similar role.
Chelsea’s attempt failed, partly because of Busquets’ loyalty and Sport believe the contract signing presentation on Thursday should be made a little special.
Rather than just a photograph of him signing the contract in the club president’s office, Sport feel that something else may be fitting to acknowledge the career Busquets has already had with Barcelona.
Perhaps a a photograph with a copy of every trophy he’s ever won would do? That’s La La Liga six times, Copa del Rey four times, four Supercopa de Espana titles, plus three each of the Champions league, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
Not to forget a World Cup and a European Championship with Spain.
