After a successful loan spell at Goodison Park last season, Everton were determined to try and get Kurt Zouma back from Chelsea this summer.
The Frenchman became a pivotal part of Everton’s team last year, and both he and the Toffees were keen for the relationship to carry on.
However, with a new manager in Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge, and a transfer ban preventing new arrivals, it quickly became clear Chelsea may not want to do business.
That was the case, according to Foot Mercato, who report that Everton have now completely given up on signing Zouma this summer.
Foot Mercato’s report states Everton had initially sought to sign Zouma on loan once again, which was rejected, so then attempted a permanent deal with instalments.
That was also dismissed as well, with Chelsea deciding keep Zouma for this coming season.
Everton, therefore, have given up and now turn their attention to signing Zouma’s teammate Fikayo Tomori instead.
