Dennis Praet has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the window, but it looks like Leicester City are expected to acquire the Sampdoria midfielder’s services.
Sky Italia reported on Tuesday evening that Brendan Rodgers’ side are ‘close to an agreement’ with the Serie A club for the 25-year-old.
Tuttosport claim the Belgium international is ‘ready to leave Sampdoria and move to Leicester’.
Sampdoria value Praet around €26m and are working to find an agreement with all parties involved to close the deal.
If Leicester meets Sampdoria’s demands, then there should not be any obstacle for Praet to join Leicester.
His former manager, Marco Giampaolo wanted to sign him for his new club, AC Milan. However, Praet is more likely to move away from Italy.
Sampdoria face Spezia in a friendly later today and the former confirmed on their official website that Praet has been left out of the squad for the fixture.
It could be another indication the player’s future could be away from Sampdoria.
