With Harry Maguire now on his way to Old Trafford after Leicester City and Manchester United finally agreed on a fee, the Foxes will be hunting for a replacement.
That won’t be easy given the pivotal status Maguire enjoys at the King Power Stadium, but it seems Brendan Rodgers and his team have identified a La Liga centre back as a potential replacement.
Marca report today that Leicester have turned their attention to Malaga’s Djené Dakonam for when Maguire leaves.
The newspaper offers little more than that, just that the Foxes are looking at the Togolese defender. There is no suggestion of a price, whether Malaga will sell or even if negotiations are underway.
This, however, is not the first time that Djene has come up in regards to Leicester. The Foxes were linked with a move last summer and were even said to be willing to pay €35m for him.
The interest didn’t end, with them linked again back in March when that €35m fee was suggested once more.
There have been no links since that point, but it’s clear that Djene is a player they’re aware of at the club and like, so perhaps once Maguire is entirely done, that interest will firm up.
