Raul Meireles reportedly hasn’t agreed to sign an extension with Fenerbahce. His contract with the Turkish club expires this month, so the player is now free to sign for any club, and he fancies a move back to the Premier League.
According to Haber7, Bournemouth are the English side who could fulfill his desire. The club are in negotiations to sign the former Liverpool and Chelsea midfielder, and from what the website says, the deal seems very likely.
Portuguese clubs such as Porto and Braga have reportedly made approaches to sign the 33-year-old, but a return to his homeland is not part of Meireles’ plans for the next season.
The midfielder signed for Fenerbahce from Chelsea in 2012 for €10m. He has struggled with many injuries during the last season, and ended up making only 21 appearances for the Turkish side in the past year.
Meireles may well struggle to impact the Premier League on his return but if he feels he can do it, and Bournemouth agree, then there’s nothing wrong with trying.
