Fortuna Dusseldorf are working to sign Lewis Baker from Chelsea, report Bild on Sunday evening.
Talks are already going on between the two clubs and the German newspaper reports things have got so far that Baker has been at Fortuna’s preseason training camp for the past two days.
However, because nothing has been finalised he’s been hidden from view, out of the way of the media. He’s staying in a nearby hotel to the rest of the squad, and watched a friendly on Saturday ‘secretly in the stands’.
That said, Bild have obviously found out what’s going on so it’s hardly the best kept secret in the German market this summer.
Fortuna want to take the 24 year old on a loan deal, and that seems to be to Chelsea’s liking. The Bundesliga club would prefer a purchase option to be included in the deal, yet Bild don’t fancy their chances of that.
