Greek website Sportdog have backed up Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in Olympiacos central defender Pape Abou Cisse, but a potential transfer is looking unlikely at this stage.
Yesterday we covered claims from Greece that Wolves are tracking the 23 year old, who is currently competing in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.
Today Sportdog claims the Premier League side are only looking to offer between €8m and €9m for the defender, but Olympiacos are unlikely to accept such an offer.
It’s reported the Greek giants are holding out for €15m for their prized asset and they are ready to start a bidding war for the player.
Sportdog claims Olympiacos need a special offer to sell Cisse and that Jorge Mendes could be a factor because he’s working closely with both clubs. In recent windows Mendes has brought in a number of players for Wolves.
There have also been recent claims in the English press that Arsenal are interested in Cisse, but this has been played down in the Greek sport media.
Cisse’s contract with Olympiacos will expire at the end of June 2022.
