Suffering a bad injury while on loan with Deportivo La Coruña, Joselu won’t be returning to Stoke City early.

Moving to the Spanish club as he was struggling to find game time under Mark Hughes, the Spanish striker returned to his home country, but bad luck struck early on.

Suffering a sprained medial collateral ligament, the 26-year-old has said that he will stay in Spain for his treatment, even if Stoke are ‘worried’ about his condition.

Speaking in a press conference, relayed by Marca, he said: “I spoke with Stoke. They’re concerned. The physios there are friends of mine, but Deportivo have a great medical staff and I wanted to be treated here as I feel very comfortable and hope to recover quickly.”

Joselu was 24 minutes into his debut for his new club when Raul Garcia’s tackle cut the striker’s game short, a tackle for which the midfielder has already apologised for.

During his time at Stoke, the former Real Madrid and Hoffenheim goalscorer scored four goals in 27 appearances.
