The Naples sport media have been following Kieran Tierney’s situation closely.
Local club Napoli have been interested in signing the Celtic player this simmer, although they’re aware it will be tough to both agree a fee and beat competition from Arsenal.
On Wednesday, Alex McLeish spoke to Italian radio and talked up a Celtic exit for the fullback, believing he’s ready to take the next step in his career.
He told Radio Marte, relayed by CalcioNapoli24: “Tierney is ready for the big jump and to go in a more important club than Celtic. When his team played Barcelona, Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, he always stood out, and that makes him ready. He’s got attacking qualities, but is also a great defender.
Now CalcioNapoli24 say they’ve spoken to a source close to the Celtic player, who has been able to confirm interest from Napoli is genuine.
However, that doesn’t mean they’re closing in on a deal for Tierney, with the same source making it clear a transfer to Arsenal is likelier at this stage.
That still leaves the rather important matter of the Gunners agreeing a fee with Celtic.
CN24 speak to agents every day, so it’s unlikely they’d pluck the claim from thin air.
