After the traditional tense music and that great voice saying ‘exclusinda’, Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda has claimed Tottenham Hotspur have a new target for the transfer window.
As revealed by him in El Chiringuito de Jugones, Spurs are now interested in signing Mariano Diaz from Real Madrid.
That’s all the journalist says on the show, and Diario Gol brings a more complete story on the player’s situation at the La Liga side.
They say Mariano would like to stay at Real Madrid, but the club see his departure as a good option, since he should have no place in the squad this season.
Mariano spent the 2017/18 season at Lyon and then Madrid used their option to sign the player back for a cut-price €23m.
During his season in France he played 45 games and scored 21 goals.
Since returning to Madrid, he’s made 22 appearances, mainly as a substitute, and scored four goals.
Now with several attackers arriving at the club, it’s unlikely the 25 year old will get much game time.
There are no claims of approaches from Tottenham for now, and we didn’t really expect much else coming from El Chiringuito.
Summing up El Chiringuito with Diario Gol, it’s not exactly an axis of transfer rumour reliability, but Mariano Diaz is certainly an interesting option for clubs this summer and it’s perhaps strange there hasn’t been more claims.
