Real Madrid and their local media may be jumping onboard the Donny van de Beek train this week, but that doesn’t mean they’ve completely forgotten about Zinedine Zidane’s one big hope.
The Frenchman has been eager to get his compatriot Paul Pogba to the club, and it’s thought the player would also like the transfer. Manchester United will have been at least a little irritated with their midfielder’s recent comments about wanting an exit from Old Trafford.
It’s believed his agent Mino Raiola had also passed that message on in private, and Pogba’s decision to go public was to apply more pressure.
So far it hasn’t worked, and the Premier League club are standing firm in their stance that Pogba won’t be going anywhere this summer.
To try and push things further, Marca say the World Cup winner will meet with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer next week at training and ‘reiterate his desire’ for a move.
Pogba’s hope is said to be that his manager will decide an exit is the best idea, and then ‘facilitate’ the move.
If that doesn’t work, Real Madrid have Van de Beek as their next option.
