At the weekend, Sky Sports claimed both West Ham and Valencia have had big offers for Maxi Gomez accepted by Celta Vigo.
This was very quickly rubbished in Spain, where the media local to the La Liga club made it clear nothing has been accepted. West Ham had offered around €32.5m but this was knocked back, and Valencia are looking to include Santi Mina in a deal to get the price down.
If an offer had been accepted from Valencia then it’s likely Gomez would be their player now, with it being made clear a move to Los Ches is what he’s looking for.
Faro de Vigo say Gomez has ‘practically everything’ agreed with Valencia to move to the club, and is just waiting for them to sort out the transfer fee with Celta Vigo.
He prioritises a move to the club because he feels it would suit him better than jumping to the Premier League with West Ham. There’d be no language issues and no settling in time in a new country.
Valencia also have the advantage of European football next season.
